For more than fifty years the League of Friends has been the focus of community support for Buckingham Hospital, making it an even better environment for patients and staff. Over the years projects funded by the League of Friends have included:

  • £174,000 towards the extension and refurbishment of the Hospital, 1989-1991
  • £70,000 towards the provision of new X-ray equipment
  • Maintaining the Hospital gardens and grounds
  • A new shed for storing garden furniture
  • Decorating and furnishing a staff room
  • Supporting the Embleton Day Unit (for the elderly with mental health problems) 1996-2017
  • A garden bench at the main entrance to commemorate the League’s fiftieth anniversary
  • A Motability car for use by occupational therapists and physiotherapists
  • £30,000 to provide a visual field analyser for the ophthalmic clinic
  • Patient hoists, specialist chair and rotastand
  • Pressure-relieving mattresses
  • Vital signs monitors
  • Maintaining the Hospital aquarium
  • Ward televisions
  • Ward clocks
  • Wheelchairs
