Poster Competition

“ Over the summer, the League ran a competition for school children to design a poster to highlight the presence of Buckingham Hospital in the community and the services to be found there. The challenge was organised by League committee members Charlotte Brown and Rachael Wilson and eagerly taken up by Buckingham Primary school, with very strong encouragement from Deputy Head Teacher, Mrs Brewer. Around 200 posters were submitted – an astonishing number – from which five finalists were judged & selected by a committee & put on display in Buckingham library for the winner to be voted for by the local community. A prize of £10 Amazon vouchers were offered to the finalists with the overall winner receiving a Kindle Paperwhite eReader. The standard of posters presented was very high, with some truly imaginative ideas. As always, there could only be one winner and that was Eleanor Douglas, who was over the moon with her prize, never, as she put it, having won anything before. All the prizes were presented by League chairman, John Wrigley, at a school assembly. To round off the competition, the winning posters will be displayed around the local area and on the Buckingham Hospital, League of Friends website,uk. After all, there would be no point in receiving so many wonderful offerings and then not putting them to good use, would there? Thanks to Charlotte, Rachael, Pam Gowen (Buckingham Library) and Mrs Brewer, this proved to be a very successful co-operative venture with Buckingham Primary school.”
