League of Friends position re comments on future of Buckingham Hospital

PRESS RELEASE
20th May 2018
The League of Friends of Buckingham Hospital has noted the report in the Buckingham and Winslow Advertiser and the subsequent statement issued by Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. The League is aware of three significant NHS projects which will inevitably create changes in the services provided in the hospital and elsewhere in our community:

Ø Community Hubs. Following the pilot projects at Thame and Marlow, we understand that Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust intends to roll out similar Hubs across Buckinghamshire.

Ø Buckinghamshire Integrated Teams. This is an initiative to encourage closer working between general practices, community staff, social services and the voluntary sector.

Ø Lace Hill. The proposed relocation of The Swan Practice and the provision of other healthcare facilities.

The League of Friends is requesting representation on all three projects and is committed to working with a range of stakeholders to redesign community services for the benefit of residents of Buckingham and surrounding areas. Specifically we are concerned to ensure that the provision of overnight beds in Buckingham Hospital and in any new development is maintained, unless and until alternative provision has been agreed by all stakeholders including the League of Friends.
